EDITORIAL
This edition of Culture Curry was completely taken over by team Blutterflies. From contributing through articles by almost every member of their team, to organising the Independence Day celebrations on 14th Aug., they took charge of it all. We applaud their initiative and encourage others to do the same...
With this edition we also bid farewell to the monsoons, who having finished their allotted spell, are saying their goodbyes...
AND SO IT ENDS. . .
How come all good things come to an end and they say that the best endings are the ones that are abrupt and keep a small window open? Oops, there goes the film buff and writer in me, let loose on a real life situation that is this piece for the Culture Curry. Anyways it gives me great pleasure to write this on this slightly wet, slightly dry, Independence day. I can start by wishing you the very best as Indians and also by thanking all of you for the ball that I had in my time at Bluelotus. So where do i start; maybe that wet September afternoon and my train ride from Bandra to Churchgate, and the boil i was on when i entered the office to meet Pooja. I would honestly start by thanking Pooja for believing that i was worth spending time on and for pestering Mouli to do so. I thank Mouli for getting pestered and offering me the opportunity to work at Bluelotus. I do not believe that I would have come this far if not for one person. I would then in my very much ‘Oscar acceptance kind of thank you note’ acknowledge Wayne's contribution to my time at Bluelotus. The times have been memorable and we hope to carry the friendship forward.
To my Blutterfies who gave me the opportunity to manage an all girls team for the first time. While initially there were butterflies in my huge stomach, they were soon eased out by the girls inducting me into the team with relative ease. I firmly believe that Isha, Anuja, Parinaz and Vinayak have the ability to move mountains with their sheer dedication towards their work and I am sure will be hearing a lot about them in the near future (Those will be proud moments for me as well).
I would also like to thank the likes of Shikha, Diana, Prathamesh, Anil, Pournima, Rohini, Vandana, Anupriya, Priya (Mustard), the Culture Curry team, Piyush Jain and the Blue Bytes team. I would also like to thank quite a few people for many an enjoyable moment that I have had and the outstations especially, Chitra and the Pune team as well as some others with whom I had the chance to interact with; Karthik, Poornima V, Shruti, Jasleen, Deba, Archana Sharda and Kiran.
I guess I should stop before this turns into a voters list.I take your leave but I hope this is not Goodbye...

MY EXPERIENCE AT BLUELOTUS
Blutterfly Parinaz is the newest member of the team Blutterflies. She shares with us her encounter and experience at Bluelotus.
My first day at Blue lotus was great. It started with making frantic calls from home to Pooja and Shefali until I came to know that the day was declared a holiday owing to heavy rains. The next day when I entered office I had a lot of things running on my mind. I wondered how the office would be like, how would the staff be whether I will be welcomed or not. But everyone was great, especially Subhash, Anuja, Isha and Vinayak. The moment I stepped in, they made me feel a part of the team. Shefali gave me an informative orientation of Bluelotus.
I cannot but mention my first day lunch–break encounter. During lunch time when I entered the pantry and took my seat, I saw someone quietly standing in a corner and having his lunch. I urged that person to take a chair while having lunch because I did not like someone standing and eating. But he politely declined and continued with his lunch. I persisted and he declined yet again. I then introduced myself and asked him casually for his name as I did not remember him being introduced to me. He then told me he was N. Chandramouli and his designation. He also told me that next time he will make sure that he is introduced to the people who join Bluelotus. I simply nodded and continued to have my lunch silently and let him have his in peace.
Since the weeks I have been here, I have noticed Bluelotus to be a place with a positive vibe and everyone tries to do his or her best. It equally encouraged me to give my best. The number of places I have visited in the past three weeks, for media rounds, I had not visited in the past whole year. I saw the strength and professionalism of the Blutterflies team when I was introduced to Ipsita and Yatin.
It came as a shock to me when Subhash announced that he was leaving. Even in the little time I spent with him, I loved his attitude and style of working. I was really looking forward to learn from him. We, as a team had our great moments of fun and bonding and we are surely going to miss him a lot. We just hope our next team lead is as good.
I too want to contribute to the benefit of our company in this difficult time for our group. I am positive we will do great and be the pride of Blue Lotus and help the company in the near future!
Thank you friends for this memorable experience...
WINNING FRIENDS
Blutterfly Isha conveys through her article how believing in someone's ability instills confidence and self- belief in the person and makes one a winner.
It was an extremely difficult task to get her out of her shell. It’s not that she was a shy woman or a person who has no intelligence. Something was stopping her from taking that chance. Her friends and family were trying to build her confidence and urging her to face the camera and make that appearance. Probably, she was afraid of fumbling in front of the camera or how she would look on screen. Unfortunately, she wasn’t aware of her potentials.
Here, let me introduce YASHIKA SINGH, an Economist with Dun & Bradstreet. Newspaper journalists and news programme coordinators were bombarding me with innumerable calls. They wanted to feature her on their talk shows. It is naturally not an easy task to sit among the stalwarts of the finance industry and discuss economics. These people have been regularly coming on television. But this time I was confident of convincing her for the live talk show.
11th July 2008 is definitely a red letter day for both Yashika and me. Parinaz and me were rushing towards CNBC office on a cloudy day to witness our very first live talk show. The topic of discussion was the current economic crisis of Inflation. Yashika had finally agreed to face the camera. Reaching forty-five minutes earlier, we were trying to lay our hands on every bit of information on inflation and intimating Yashika. She was on her way to the CNBC office with her close friends Metabelle and Lavina.
Yashika was wearing a maroon crisp shirt and beige formal pant and was looking very smart when she entered the office reception with her friends. But I could tell from her face that she was nervous to the core. We were taken to the guest room before the shoot. We all started encouraging and pepping up Yashika and got so carried away that the programme coordinator had to come in and calm us down. In some time Yashika went in for the shoot.

Within twenty minutes Yashika was on national television doing a live talk show called Aakhri Sauda. We all informed our respective offices and asked them to tune in and check out the show. Everyone came back with positive feedback and told us that Yashika was exceptionally good. All of us in the guest room were elated and waited eagerly for her to come out.
It was a new Yashika who came out. We saw a media shy person transforming into a person full of confidence and positive attitude. Today Yashika does not shy or hesitate in talking to the media.
For all this I feel proud of myself and my ex- team leader Subhash who had the confidence to motivate and convince Yashika to face the camera.
ROGER AND RAFAEL -- A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN

Wimbledon has a new king - Rafael Nadal. The match was a grueling 4 hours 48 minutes duel between my hero, defending champion for 5 consecutive years, Roger Federer and Nadal. The previous night I dreamt of Freddy creating history by lifting the Wimbledon trophy for the sixth time. The dream was so vivid that I opened my eyes to darkness and immediately closed it, imagining myself being on the centre court cheering out for Freddy.
Coming back to the excitement of the game, though Rafa’s performance throughout the tournament was magnificent, I never thought he would lift the trophy. I felt Federer would continue to reign the grass court. Unfortunately, one of them was in a better form than the other. Freddy might have been himself amazed by Rafa’s dominance in the first two sets. This was the time I thought Freddy would lose. His first serves were weak but the rains proved to be bliss and he fought back gracefully to take the game to the fifth set.
Meanwhile, my house had turned into a battle field. The atmosphere was tensed with me in Freddy’s camp and my sister and dad in Rafa’s. No one was allowed to make noise or even walk in front of the television. Each camp would rejoice with their respective side’s win. Even my ‘usually not so interested in tennis’ mom got caught in the madness and frenzy and started enjoying it as much as we were.
Then came the second bout of rains. It temporarily doused our excitement until the game resumed back after half an hour. In the midst of the audience were one time arch-rivals Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe. Watching the finest athletes ever produced by tennis was like icing on the cake. Being an avid tennis fan since childhood, I have always been a great fan of Borg, McEnroe, Sampras, Agassi, Navratilova and Steffi Graff. Over the years this list has become longer. As a kid I would always make it a point to never miss a single match of theirs which was packed with excitement, energy, passion and true spirit of sportsmanship.
When the game resumed after the rain break, I wa

Tennis has been, was, and will always remain my best sport. I had once an ambition to be a tennis player. I know it’s not too late and I will one day accomplish my dream. So what if I don’t play against the world’s best. But there is a chance whomsoever I play against could be tomorrow’s world no.1!
NKOTB - INTRODUCE YOURSELVES
Prateek
Though ‘I, me, myself’ are the most over-used words in the present day world, when asked to write something about myself, I find it difficult.
Anything to do with creativity, humour and people, interests me. I love to read, blog and be on stage. Last seen working at ICICI Bank, I have earlier handled freelancing assignments for Cartoon Network and Bindaas TV. A new member of the Blue Lotus family, I wish to make a mark in the communication industry through the platform of PR.
Ishani
A typical Leo by nature, I am loving, caring, understanding and talkative. In all, a dynamic personality, yet simple and down to earth.
I am a gossip queen, a know-it-all and a chatterbox. I love to watch movies and am a hard-core John Abraham fan. A shopaholic, I like to hang out with my friends and explore new and happening places in and around Pune. I am trustworthy and appreciative and believe in returning kindness.
Poulomi
I am Poulomi. I joined the Blue Lotus family on the 21st of July and am finding it really nice working in here. I hail from ‘The Scotland of the East’- Shillong.
My hobbies include reading books, listening to music and cooking. People, who overact, pretending to be very cool and smart, irritate me to the core. I like to hang- out with friends and at times prefer to spend sometime just with myself. My family is my biggest asset and my communication skill, my strength.
