Indulgence and Rejuvenation

-Pournima Surve

Chocolate, wine and caviar massages are the new luxury words in beauty treatments. There are spas which provide complete wine therapy called Vinotherapy, as it’s popularly called, involving massaging and scrubbing the body with crushed grapes, but not before drenching clients in a pool of wine.

Among these, Fish pedicure has become a rage all over the world. My experience of a fish pedicure (Rs 220 for 20 minutes) for the first time was amazing. When I first sat there with my feet in the pool, it felt a bit “ticklish” for a moment, but, later my feet emerged glowing and visibly healthy.
What is fish pedicure?
As name suggests, fish is used for the pedicure treatment. This was first invented in Turkey, but now almost all major cities in the world including Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai have this kind of pedicure treatment. Here, Doctor Fish or Garra Rufa fish which thrives on mainly dead skin is utilized for the cleaning purpose.
It is one of natural ways available for foot therapy.

Fish pedicure treatment
Doctor fish or nibble fish, kangal fish or little dermatologists feed on your dead skin in warm water making your skin smoother and cleaner. This is followed by normal massage and cleaning as part of the pedicure. This is different experience in itself. Treatment is safe and enjoyable. These doctor fish do not have teeth and so there is no risk of bite etc in this treatment.

Fish pedicure price
Price range normally various from Rs 250 till 1000 as per choices. Cost includes maintenance of these fish as fish thrive normally in warm water and also as this is new concept, price is more. But price also includes normal nail filing, massage per acupressure points, scrubbing etc in addition to fish nibbiling on your dead skin.
